Simply put: I love history and want others to love it too! And when it's presented in a compelling and engaging fashion. . . history is fun!
A continuing fascination with history and fashion led me to collect and extensively research antiques and lifestyles c. 1860s - 1980s. My immersion (some might say obsession!) prompted me to develop Lost in the Past in 2001. Since then, I have enjoyed sharing the splendor of history, culture, and antique and vintage fashion with others.
I present fun and informative programs that include historical and social contexts but are geared to modern audiences! Many program topics are available, and custom requests are welcomed.
For seventeen years (and counting!) I have spoken and consulted for a myriad of groups and events, including libraries, schools, Red Hat events, historical societies, genealogical societies, tea clubs, church groups, garden clubs, women's clubs, Girl Scout troops, fundraisers, bus tours, and private parties! I encourage audience participation and programs are tailored to the interests and age group of the audience. I first specialized in the Victorian and Edwardian eras (still a favorite!), but lately have presented talks on eras up to and through the 1980s!
I'm also honored to have been chosen by multiple PBS affiliates to promote their hit Masterpiece Theater program "Downton Abbey" by way of varying media including in-person keynotes for multiple PBS fundraisers, kickoffs and membership drives, via radio on Fresh Air, and on television including an appearance on the award-winning "Applause" on ideastream and on ideastream's television commercials for "Downton Abbey" among others.
